Oslo songwriter Lasse Lokøy has released a new album titled ‘& The Roommates’.

This album marks Lasse's debut under his own name, taking him from the West Coast of the United States to the cold winters of Norway. He spent three years immersed in the studio scene in Los Angeles, collaborating with artists such as Toro y Moi, Uffie, and Om’Mas Keith.

Upon returning to Oslo, he settled into a unique communal living space—an old functionalist dormitory for students with visual and hearing impairments, designed by Sverre Fehn.

Over time, a band was formed, and these musicians contributed to fleshing out Lasse Lokøy’s compositions.

With echoes of early Modest Mouse or Sebadoh, the raw, gritty indie rock is uplifting, complemented by sharp wordplay that serves as the perfect finishing touch.

Available now on Glimten Records, ‘& The Roommates’ was primarily recorded live in the studio—Lasse and his friends had rehearsed the material so thoroughly that most tracks required no additional takes.

      He remarks...

“I have recently drawn inspiration from diaristic writers. This is the first album where I reveal more of myself as a singer-songwriter, whereas my earlier albums were primarily showcases of production. It’s not a concept album; rather, it resembles a photo album, reflecting different aspects of myself. Some moments are intense, while others are light-hearted and sweet. Every word feels true to me, and that’s what I hold myself accountable for.”

      Tune in now.
