Indie-pop newcomers Good Neighbours have launched their musical year with the release of ‘Ripples’ - a lively yet poignant reflection on grief, mental health, and supporting friends. "Ripple was inspired by a close friend dealing with grief," the duo explained. “They felt engulfed by their emotions and would retreat within themselves. This song is about helping your loved ones emerge from that dark place.” Their latest single has generated considerable anticipation, especially since the duo went viral with their debut hit ‘Home,’ toured with Grammy-nominee Benson Boone, and received a BRIT Award nomination in the past year. However, ‘Ripples’ showcases that they have more to offer; it includes their first official music video, featuring their younger selves in a character-forming swimming lesson, revealing an unexpected depth to Good Neighbours’ recognizable feel-good nostalgia. Discussing the visualizer (which you can view below), director Alex Lockett remarked: “The video delves into the unspoken emotional struggles men frequently experience when overwhelmed by grief or depression. The black brick and the challenge young Oli faces in reaching it symbolize the burdens we carry and the resistance we feel when attempting to bring them to light. Ultimately, it’s a celebration of resilience and the significance of connection. It’s about tackling life’s obstacles together, supported by those around us.” Additionally, Good Neighbours are featured in DIY’s Class Of 2025 - a selection of thrilling artists we believe will make a significant impact this year.
