Joe Armon-Jones is set to release his new solo album ‘All The Quiet’ this year.
As a keys player, he plays a crucial role in Ezra Collective, being essential to the group's journey from local youth clubs to their Mercury Prize success.
The upcoming album ‘All The Quiet’ marks his first solo effort in six years and will be released in two parts. The creative process began during the lockdown, allowing Joe to concentrate on enhancing his studio techniques and mastering skills.
During this time, he developed new ideas and embraced his passion for dub, experimenting with these concepts using his friends’ Unit 137 sound system in Lewisham. “I became really passionate about exploring the sound world of dub,” he shares. “I took that exploration and blended it with jazz, funk, and all the other genres I truly love.”
Over time, he gathered various collaborators who would help bring these tracks to life. ‘All The Quiet (Part I)’ is scheduled for release on March 28th, while ‘All The Quiet (Part II)’ will be available on June 13th.
Featured artists on the albums include Asheber, Greentea Peng, Wu Lu, Hak Baker, and Yazmin Lacey.
The new track ‘Kingfisher’ showcases an impressive auditory landscape, featuring vocalist Asheber alongside Joe Armon-Jones.
With soulful nuances and jazz adaptability, the deep textures and immaculate sound quality reflect the lasting impact of dub pioneers like Augustus Pablo on his artistry.
