After recently hinting at her return with the singles ‘Who Said’ and ‘Wake Me Up’, Danish pop star MØ has officially announced details about her upcoming album. The follow-up to 2022’s ‘Motordrome’, titled ‘Plæygirl’, is set to be released on May 16th via RCA/Sony. According to promotional materials, it will be “a sonic exploration of reconciling the exuberance of youth with the stark realities of adulthood.” To celebrate this announcement, she has shared a third preview of the album in the form of ‘Sweet’—an energetic, club-ready track featuring former DIY cover star and fellow dance-pop artist Biig Piig.
MØ described ‘Sweet’ as “a fun and sweet song wrapped into a mean bass synth riff (thanks to Nick Sylvester).” She noted that the line “I don’t go to clubs / I go to comic cons and thrash metal shows” serves as the album’s battle cry, expressing the experience of feeling like an outsider while embracing that identity. “I don’t enjoy going to clubs! I like playing The Sims, attending punk and metal shows, and spending time with my friends and family. I think a lot of people can relate to that.” She added: “And then I’m a massive fan of Biig Piig, who perfectly complements what we’re trying to convey with the song.” You can listen to ‘Sweet’ and revisit our recent interview with MØ below.
