Squid has unveiled their energetic new single ‘Cro-Magnon Man.’
The group has put out two thrilling albums, evolving from post-punk chaos to avant-garde electronics and more. Their third album, ‘Cowards,’ will be released this week – specifically on February 7th – and it showcases Squid's instinct for immediacy.
Recorded at Church studios in Crouch End, the album is preceded by the powerful track 'Cro-Magnon Man' – anchored by a pulsating bass line, with Squid swirling around it, featuring intricate guitar work paired with soothing vocals.
Backing vocals are provided by notable guests – Clarissa Connelly, Tony Njoku, and Rosa Brook – and the overall effect is sharp, surreal, and quite energetic.
Laurie Nankivell from Squid remarks…
“It’s incredibly challenging; it takes years to develop a shared collective language among the five of us, and we have accomplished that musically, allowing us to feed off one another.”
