Titled ‘ISLAND TIES,’ Nicholas Daley’s AW25 collection is a sincere tribute to the designer’s rich culture and identity. Drawing inspiration from his transatlantic heritage, Daley’s AW25 collection embodies a profound connection to both Jamaica and Scotland, as he continues to intertwine his own identity and personal history with that of his family and community.
This deeply nostalgic line, ‘ISLAND TIES,’ links Jamaica and Britain through Daley himself, featuring a new version of the brand’s official Nicholas Daley Check known as Night Tartan, which retains the red, gold, and green threads inspired by the Jamaican flag. In this collection, the check appears in soft mohair and luxurious lambswool, showcasing both streetwear and opulent aspects of the pattern. The mohair items reflect classic streetwear influences, including wide-leg pleated trousers, boxy shirts, and an oversized mac. In lambswool, the Night Tartan is refined, appearing in bomber jackets, wrapped kilts, and thick scarves.
The strong tailoring pays homage to Daley’s time on Savile Row, combining sharp pleats and clean cuts with boxy layering and oversized silhouettes to modernize and diversify looks, promoting a richer cultural blend.
In addition, the Jamaican hibiscus flower merges with the Scottish thistle to create a new Nicholas Daley emblem on classic rugby shirts, alongside symbols from The Reggae Klub featured on casual streetwear items such as t-shirts, hoodies, and caps, celebrating his parents’ connection to the Edinburgh reggae scene. A t-shirt inspired by a photograph taken by his parents in the 1980s, Daley continues to advocate for Black British cultural identity through his creations.
‘ISLAND TIES’ also includes a collaboration with Lyle & Scott, marking the Scottish brand’s 150th anniversary. Through this partnership, Daley presents a custom wool tartan in the classic Lyle & Scott color scheme on knitted vests, collared jumpers, beanies, and scarves. Japanese brand Flower Mountain enhances Daley’s cultural offerings with a shoe collaboration. Incorporating technical features from Flower Mountain, the shoes are water-repellent and durable, featuring a signature Nicholas Daley tartan insole and antique brass accents, along with a custom cotton herringbone tape lace system for added comfort and support.
