Raveena Releases New Song 'Sun Don’t Leave Me'

On February 28th, Raveena will unveil the deluxe edition of her album for 2024, titled ‘Where The Butterflies Go In The Rain’.

This deluxe version was completed during a tumultuous time marked by the devastating fires in Southern California. The two new singles, which include an updated rendition of ‘Lose My Focus’ as well as a remix, address themes related to climate grief, love, and domestic life, while also hinting at a more optimistic future.

As a preview, Raveena has released the track ‘Sun Don’t Leave Me’. Drawing inspiration from the candid storytelling of Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, and Leon Bridges, the artist reflects on the sanctity of life on Earth and emphasizes the importance of cherishing fleeting moments, as tomorrow is never guaranteed.

“This song embodies the sorrow for a simpler time on our planet – mourning the swift decline of our Earth's resources, climate, and beauty. I was feeling the weight of this song more than ever due to how the fires in LA impacted me and my loved ones, especially since I was in a high evacuation zone. Beyond just climate grief, this song ponders the desire to cling to one more stunning sunset, one more passionate hug, before uncertainty takes hold and challenges arise.”

In creating ‘Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain’, Raveena was inspired by individuals who excel at simultaneously capturing the beauty and loss of life. Blending expansive songwriting with traditional Indian instruments and uplifting early 2000s pop tunes, Raveena delivered a project that represents her most comprehensive expression of self to date. “I don’t think I’ve ever grasped a record as well as I do now—this process was different from my past albums, where I often felt anxious about meeting expectations. This time, it was driven by intuition, and I recognized the album was right when I experienced a sense of peace.”

The new single comes ahead of soon-to-be-announced tour dates and follows the release of Raveena’s film Where The Butterflies Went, a 30-minute piece executive produced by James Beard Award-winning chef and two-time Emmy Award nominee Sophia Roe, in partnership with the multidisciplinary group Aerthship.
