The release commemorates thirty years of the legendary trip-hop band.
Morcheeba – comprised of Skye and Ross Godfrey – is set to launch their eleventh studio album, ‘Escape The Chaos’, on May 23rd through 100% Records.
This upcoming album follows their 2021 release, ‘Blackest Blue’, and includes the uplifting track ‘We Live And Die’, which reflects the duo’s extensive journey in the realm of progressive electronic music. This single will debut as their first-ever 7” on Record Store Day, April 12th, in celebration of their thirty-year milestone.
Regarding the new single, Skye shares: “For me, ‘We Live and Die’ represents my time in the band, the music scene, and life overall. The distinctions tend to fade after all these years. In a sense, it’s a tribute to the thirty years spent in Morcheeba, which constitutes 60% of my life.”
Family and connection are essential aspects of Morcheeba’s new chapter. During an early session in Dublin, Ross and Skye were accompanied by her son Jaega on drums and husband Steve Gordon on bass, both of whom are integral members of their live band. “It felt reminiscent of the earlier days of recording when we captured those tracks,” says Ross. “We were actually in the same space, playing the songs together.”
Furthering the family theme on the album, Ross’ wife, French artist Amanda Zamolo, contributed lyrics and vocals. Additional guest artists include rapper Oscar #Worldpeace on the powerful track ‘Peace of Me’, a timely message addressing the world’s fixation on conflict.
