Supersonic Festival 2025: Initial Lineup Announced

Supersonic Festival has announced the initial lineup for 2025.

This beloved festival serves as a center for innovative music, encompassing genres from avant-folk to black metal and synth explorations. Creating a genuine sense of community, Supersonic overcame numerous hurdles in the live music scene to provide an exceptional weekend of music in 2024.

The festival will return this summer, taking place from August 29th to 31st at its well-known location in Digbeth, Birmingham.

In her introductory message, Lisa Meyer, the Artistic Director of Supersonic Festival, expressed:

Despite the challenges we faced last year due to gentrification and an unstable festival environment, the remarkable response to the festival truly humbled me; it felt victorious against the odds.

We are living in difficult times, making it imperative that we value our creative spaces more than ever. Supersonic Festival is dedicated to doing things differently by highlighting lesser-known artists, challenging the commercial norms of the broader music festival scene with an alternative and more adventurous lineup, and showcasing some of the most essential underground artists. I am immensely thankful that our audiences and artists believe in us. Their support is what drives the festival forward.

Among the artists announced is the talented North East songwriter Rich(ard) Dawson, a familiar face at the festival. Other acts include the drone folk project Bridget Hayden and the Apparitions, as well as Divide and Dissolve, Mermaid Chunky, and Meatdripper.

Zambian-Canadian producer and rapper Backxwash is also returning to the festival to present her upcoming album, ‘Only Dust Remains’. She remarked:

Supersonic was an amazing experience!! The crowd's energy and the organisers' attention to detail made our first UK show unforgettable. The festival offers a highly unique selection of numerous talented artists and creates a community-focused atmosphere. I am so thankful to be coming back this year to perform my new album and I’m excited for this year’s lineup.

Additional acts include the Scandinavian death metal project Witch Club Satan, Zu, Death Goals, and Cinder.

The preliminary lineup for Supersonic is:

AUNTY RAYZOR | BACKXWASH | BRIDGET HAYDEN AND THE APPARITIONS | BUÑUEL | CINDER WELL | DEATH GOALS | DIVIDE AND DISSOLVE | HEDGLING | HIRS COLLECTIVE | MARIA W HORN & SARA PARKMAN present FUNERAL FOLK | MEATDRIPPER | MERMAID CHUNKY | MOIN | OMO | POOR CREATURE | RICH(ARD) DAWSON | WATER DAMAGE | WITCH CLUB SATAN | ZU
