A significant advancement for the Cork band...
Cork indie sensation Cliffords has released their new single ‘Bittersweet.’
The band’s debut EP, which they funded and produced themselves last year, showcased their youthful energy and undeniable talent. Blending indie elements with a hint of 90s production influences, their sound draws comparisons to Wolf Alice and the Cranberries.
Progressing rapidly, Cliffords has unveiled a new single, marking their first collaboration with an external producer.
Partnering with Richie Kennedy at Battery Studios in London, ‘Bittersweet’ appears to broaden their artistic scope. With a forceful and impactful sound, the songwriting has gained new density, reflecting a narrative of defiance that aligns closely with the band’s own journey.
Vocalist Iona Lynch shares…
‘Bittersweet’ offers a more nuanced perspective on nostalgia and our experiences over the past few years in Cork. The opening lines of the song, “the city begged look up,” are inspired by something my grandfather often told me: “look up or you’ll miss half the beauty of the city.”
‘Bittersweet’ captures the complex feelings we experience as a band navigating our musical identities and personal growth as young adults. The lyrics humorously address heartbreak and the intensity of those emotions felt at the time.
Catch Cliffords on tour this Spring, including a performance at London's iconic Dublin Castle on April 15th; the band will also participate in The Great Escape in Brighton this May.
