Jacob Alon Announces Release of Debut Album ‘In Limerence’

Scottish songwriter Jacob Alon is set to release his debut album this summer.

Scheduled for May 30th, the album was produced by Dan Carey and will feature the artist's previous singles, ‘Fairy In A Bottle’, ‘Confession’, and ‘Liquid Gold 25’.

In addition to the album, Jacob Alon has announced more headline performances, with his largest show to date taking place at EartH in Hackney on May 27th.

His new single ‘Don’t Fall Asleep’ is available now – a typically beautiful piece, Jacob’s ethereal voice lends significant strength to the songwriting.

Below, you can find the single along with a heartfelt note from Jacob Alon.

"This song, for me, drifts across the turbulent surface of a dream-laden sea, struggling against its rough tide while resisting the gentle pull into an endless abyss.

It revolves around the story of my cousin, who tragically drowned in an unfortunate accident before my arrival.

Although I never met him, I have long held an image in my mind of what he might have been like, painted by the memories and tales relayed by my family. As a result, I have always maintained a somewhat fictional connection to him.

Thus, this song exists in the transitional space between realms, from his imagined perspective.

He would leave behind a son he was unaware of – tracing the cycles of life and death. A life brought into being on the other side of that delicate and fragile balance between two worlds. Of loss and gain. And the love and pain that connects them.

It also reflects on those moments in my life when living and loving felt more like a conscious choice and a commitment to continue, rather than a faithful certainty. Like barely staying afloat. Like contemplating each breath. It’s about the decision to keep believing in the real world and resisting the tempting world of dreams – to that quiet death.

In a peculiar coincidence, while I was penning this song, I received a message from my cousin's brother, who shared how he and my cousin used to select a record each night to drift off to sleep – I found this to be an incredibly significant coincidence. This brother is also one of the few musicians in my family and shared an ambient album* he created dedicated to his late brother, intended to be enjoyed while falling asleep."
