London alt-pop artist Tiberius b – the musical persona of Frank Belcourt – is set to release their debut album ‘NEVERYTHING’ on June 6th through Mark Ronson’s Zelig Music.
Co-produced by Tiberius b, Dan Carey, and Jamie Neville, ‘NEVERYTHING’ delves into the contrasts and tensions of Belcourt’s life, reflecting both minor and major upheavals. This personal journey involved recording in regular weekly sessions over the course of a year, with Tiberius b serving as a means to navigate personal turmoil.
The title, a blend of “never” and “everything,” captures the opposing forces present in these tracks, while also expressing the redemption Belcourt seeks following difficult times. “It’s a hopeful state,” Belcourt remarks. “When I’m feeling truly down, even a small glimmer of optimism can feel remarkably powerful. ‘NEVERYTHING’ offers a glimpse into that little light.”
Speaking about the album experience, which includes the earlier single ‘SUGAR RUSH,’ they express: “Mess is the common thread: mess and chaos. There are moments where I feel victimized and betrayed, as well as times when I feel empowered. The album charts that range.”
In conjunction with the album announcement, Tiberius b releases a new video directed by Sharna Osborne for their latest single ‘STAY WITH ME’ – a poignant, bittersweet breakup track. “I often write with a sense of humor, and the playful melody preceding each chorus mimics the descending trombone ‘whomp whomp’ effect commonly used on television,” Belcourt explains.
“With the music video, it becomes a tongue-in-cheek way to cope with loss. The vampire imagery serves as a metaphor for love addiction and emotional dependence, themes that I feel somewhat embarrassed to revisit in my writing.”
