Hip-hop legends De La Soul have released a special 20th anniversary edition of their project ‘The Grind Date’.

Originally launched in 2005, the album has maintained a dedicated following among De La fans. Revisiting it makes it clear why – the fervor from their 90s peak has faded, giving way to a deep appreciation for their artistry.

‘The Grind Date’ showcases some of De La Soul’s finest work while highlighting their collaborations with esteemed artists like Ghostface Killah, Flavor Flav, Common, MF DOOM, Sean Paul, and more.

This newly revamped 20th anniversary re-issue includes additional features, such as a variety of instrumentals.

But wait, there’s even more. The limited edition 140g splatter double vinyl not only includes the original album but also adds four instrumental versions of the main tracks. The CD, in addition to the instrumentals, contains two unreleased tracks, ‘Bigger’ and ‘Respect,’ both recorded during the same sessions as ‘The Grind Date.’

De La Soul’s Posdnuos (Pos) shares his thoughts…

“With the 20th anniversary of Grind Date, we feel fortunate to know we created this album which, even now, with its re-release, feels fresh and not dated; the lyrics hold relevance. It’s truly gratifying to reflect that this album was the first one we produced outside of our Tommy Boy partnership, and it has endured alongside that body of work, so it’s indeed a blessing.”

      Tune in now.
