Matty Co.'s 'BACK2BASICS' Honors the Fundamental Joys

      His mini-collection 'ALL IS GOOD HERE' has just been released.

      On March 27, 2025, Los Angeles-based artist Matt Cohen, known as matty co., unveils the final track from his ‘ALL IS GOOD HERE’ EP, titled ‘BACKTOBASICS’.

      This single blends indie-rock elements with delicate RnB influences, reminiscent of Tom Misch’s catchy anthems and the reflective nature of Dominic Fike. Cohen's genre-defying approach—he also plays bass for the emerging LA band Holy Wars—shines through in the song's atmospheric conclusion.

      Produced by Adam Castilla (The Colourist) and Brick Mansion Recordings, ‘BACKTOBASICS’ follows previous singles ‘1INAMILLION’ and ‘LIFEHASBEENALOTLATELY’, and lovingly captures Cohen's real-life relationship with his now-fiancé, cherishing the little moments shared between them.

      He states: “’BACK2BASICS’ is a warm, nostalgic song that holds significant meaning for me. It reflects some of my favorite memories with my now-fiancé, like holding her close, tracing her back, and reassuring her that everything will be okay. It encapsulates that feeling within a song.”

      Having grown up in Orange County and spent some time in Hawaii, matty co.’s music is a powerful blend of nostalgia-infused melodies and stories drawn from his parallel career in digital marketing, where he has crafted campaigns for artists such as St. Vincent and Ghost. He has been recognized as a WFNM Artist to Watch for 2025, and his music has been featured on All New Rock & Fresh Finds.
