Davon Bryant-Mason, known as dreamcastmoe, has revealed the upcoming release of the next part of ‘The Lost Tape’ series, scheduled for June 6th, in collaboration with transatlantic incubator Rhythm Section INTL.
The collaboration between dreamcastmoe and Rhythm Section founder Bradley Zero is a natural fit. Taking a brief break from releases on Ghostly/Spectral Sounds, ‘The Lost Tapes, Vol. 3’ celebrates their shared love for Washington D.C.’s ‘go-go’ funk sound, which dreamcastmoe has incorporated into a broader musical landscape, drawing from atmospheric RnB, new jack swing, hip-hop, and house.
dreamcastmoe launched ‘The Lost Tapes’ journey with the first volume in 2017, followed by ‘Vol. 2’ in 2018. Paying tribute to sampled artistry and pirate radio, the tapes highlighted the D.C. artist’s versatile songcraft, creating a compelling blend of past and future.
‘Vol. 3’ embodies the connection between D.C. and London, led by the track ‘Flowers’. This smooth, slow funk track features a contribution from NAPPYNAPPA, maintaining a homegrown feel.
