McKinley Dixon has released his latest single ‘Could’ve Been Different’.

The rapper’s upcoming album ‘Magic, Alive!’ will be available on June 6th through City Slang, following the previous single ‘Sugar Water’.

An incredibly musical lyricist, McKinley showcases his understanding of subtlety in the poignant new track ‘Could’ve Been Different’.

The soothing strings immediately capture your attention, with a radiant arrangement that includes piano chords and gentle saxophone notes.

Joined by Shamir and Blu, the performance is powerful, complemented by McKinley Dixon’s heartfelt verses: “Now we’re standing in the meadows/ Where the flowers know our name / We ain’t ran from where we grew up / Shit, we prolly go insane / Oh my god, Oh my god / I just wanna jump off the roof.”

      McKinley Dixon remarks…

“‘Could’ve Been Different’ aims to represent what I consider ‘the perfect closing credits:’ A recap of the previous story, a fresh perspective on your current situation, and an ambiguous question of ‘what lies ahead for us?’ To me, those elements create the ideal conclusion when telling stories. Well, those elements and mirroring the music to reflect how you would live your life: ending on a note they'll never forget.”
