Listen to the new single 'Vengeance'.
On March 27, 2025, interdisciplinary artist Rainy Miller from Preston will release a new album titled 'Joseph, What Have You Done?' on May 2nd through his own label, Fixed Abode.
Taking five years to complete, 'Joseph, What Have You Done?' serves as the sequel to the 2023 album 'A Grisaille Wedding', delving into themes of personal trauma and growth while incorporating elements of early 20th-century American Southern Gothic. It takes inspiration from the documentary Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus.
This project showcases Rainy’s 'Northern Gothic' aesthetic, which reflects the resilience of its people. It brings attention to the often-overlooked art of storytelling and the sense of community prevalent in everyday life across the post-industrial North of England.
Alongside the album announcement comes the ominous single 'Vengeance', which features Graham Sayle from UK band High-Vis and Danish composer August Rosenbaum. This track is described as a chilly reflection on the indistinct impressions of a summer night during the height of the COVID summer. The album will also feature contributions from jazz drummer J Ludwig III, Manchester’s Christ Bryan, and composer/multi-instrumentalist More Eaze.
Supported by notable figures like Blood Orange, Blackhaine, Actress, and Mica Levi, Rainy Miller's music is a blend of avant-garde abstraction, fluid RnB, ambient, industrial, drill, and early grime.
