      Mei Semones - Zarigani

Following the announcement of her debut album 'Animaru', Brooklyn-based bossa nova artist Mei Semones has released 'Zarigani', a four-minute single that provides a whimsically soothing sonic experience. The title, which means 'crayfish', metaphorically reflects Semones' nostalgic memories with her twin sister, while the instrumental draws on a Coltrane riff, blending classic jazz with detailed indie elements. This is a track that invites multiple replays; it's charmingly wholesome and irresistibly catchy. (Peter Martin)

      Alien Chicks - Mr Muscle

Continuing their fluid post-punk sound, Alien Chicks present 'Mr Muscle', the third taste of their upcoming EP ‘Forbidden Fruit’. This track merges the melodic and assertive elements of their former singles, propelled by a twisting, unruly guitar line and the metallic clang of a cowbell. With its excitingly erratic structure, ‘Mr. Muscle’ features rapid-fire vocals, flickering funky licks, and sudden bursts of dense sound that hit hard. The lyrics, whimsically listing the band’s favorite cleaning products, also explore the monotony of daily life and capitalist nihilism, seamlessly oscillating between serious topics and playful vibes. There’s a thrilling unpredictability to Alien Chicks' energetic work, and 'Mr. Muscle' exemplifies this chaos. Blink, and you might miss its vibrant brilliance. (Kayla Sandiford)

      Y - Ladies Who

Offering a playful critique of media exploitation, London band Y have released ‘Ladies Who’ alongside their self-titled debut EP. With a mix of discordant guitars, driving drums, and bold horn sections, the quintet presents a joyfully unpredictable sonic landscape. Framed by a narrative of a brazen female killer, this eclectic track draws on the exaggerated and often distorted narratives prevalent in today’s media. With members affiliated with Fat White Family, Meatraffle, and Pregoblin, Y is certainly one to keep an eye on. (Emily Savage)

Night Swimming - In The Real World

Following their 2024 debut EP 'No Place To Land', Bristol’s Night Swimming returns with 'In The Real World', a shimmering dream-pop anthem that encapsulates the bittersweet pain of youthful solitude. Produced by Peter Miles (TORRES, Orla Gartland) and mastered by Simon Scott of Slowdive, the song intertwines hazy, cinematic textures with Meg Jones’ yearning vocals, evoking nostalgia and restless ambition. Inspired by her teenage experiences in rural Shropshire, Jones expresses the feeling of being trapped both geographically and emotionally, longing for something just out of reach. The band's influences shine through, incorporating elements of Cocteau Twins and The Cure while merging with the modern soundscapes of Wolf Alice and Just Mustard. With an expanding live presence and a talent for creating hypnotic, deeply felt songs, Night Swimming is emerging as a must-watch in dream-pop. (Gemma Cockrell)

      Search Results - Be Laurel

Dublin's indie rock band Search Results may be the latest in a series of promising acts from the city, but they've carved out their own unique, humorous style rather than merely imitating others. Their latest track 'Be Laurel', a sub-two-minute powerhouse, showcases a group that confidently embraces its influences to deliver something refreshingly quirky. (Chris Connor)

      Midnight Rodeo - Dixon

Midnight Rodeo returns with news of 'Chaos Era', their upcoming debut LP, and leading this new chapter is 'Dixon' - a captivating, groove-driven single that showcases the band’s distinctive blend of jangly guitars, swirling synths, and Maddy Chamberlain's ethereal vocals. Based in Nottingham’s vibrant live scene, this five-piece has established a reputation for creating intoxicating psych-pop anthems, and 'Dixon' exemplifies their ability to fuse cinematic storytelling with irresistible rhythms. Here, our protagonist - a worn drifter grappling with past decisions - navigates the track’s rich sonic landscape. Mixed by Grammy-winner Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts, Sorry) and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Ash), 'Chaos Era' promises to be a vivid exploration of Midnight Rodeo’s artistic realm. (Gemma Cockrell)

      Shale - Work Dog

The last single from their self-titled debut EP, 'Work Dog' serves as Shale's anthem for the overworked. Samuel Hale’s lyrics are steeped in wit, yet are
