Hard Life has released a brand new single titled ‘othello’. The song, which premiered as Radio 1’s Hottest Record, features vocalist Murray Matraver contemplating themes of trust, identity, and jealousy. Composed during his time in Japan, ‘othello’ is Matraver’s first release since last summer’s ‘tears’. This new music comes after significant changes for the project, particularly the name change from Easy Life to Hard Life due to a legal issue with the vacation company EasyGroup. Reflecting on the track, Matraver mentioned that it draws inspiration from both the board game and the Shakespearean tale, integrating elements from the latter. “Relationships—whether they are personal, romantic, or professional—are seldom simple, and after making tough choices, you may reach a point of no return,” he stated. “‘othello’ captures that moment of doubt when someone departs from your life, leaving a deep sense of emptiness as you grapple with the unknown.” You can listen to ‘othello’ below:
