Leon Vynehall will unveil his new album ‘In Daytona Yellow’ later this year.
The producer is a key figure in UK electronic music, merging club elements with a well-structured approach to digital sound. ‘In Daytona Yellow’ marks his third album and reflects a deliberate shift towards creative and personal growth.
Releasing on September 19th through Ooze INC., the album's visual component was inspired by a visit to the celebrated American "master of light" artist James Turrell in Naoshima, Japan.
“It’s about rejecting perfection and embracing vulnerability,” Vynehall describes the album's main theme. “I aimed to release that pressure – to bid farewell to a previous version of myself and move on.”
The lead single ‘Mirrors Edge’ is available now, with its title referencing George Bernard Shaw’s well-known quote: “You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use art to see your soul.”
Leon Vynehall’s refined production features a techno sheen, complemented by the striking vocals of POiSON ANNA.
Leon Vynehall elaborates...
“I made a joke about Roberta Flack’s ‘The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face’ and how it could be interesting to create a song in that vein, but focused on oneself. When I connected it to the narrative of the album, I wanted to delve deeper into the contrast between ego sex and ego death, self-loathing and self-love. A form of narcissism, or rather, an unusual vanity. Something that feels unreal – temporary.”
