anaiis has unveiled her reinterpretation of Lauryn Hill’s ‘To Zion.’

The London-based artist performed at Chaka Khan’s Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre last summer and was encouraged to explore something new.

Collaborating with a full choir composed entirely of Black female voices, anaiis chose to reshape a song she has cherished for many years.

Lauryn Hill’s ‘To Zion’ represents a significant moment in the contemporary development of soul music, and under anaiis’ direction, it transforms into something grander, creating a rich vocal soundscape.

"I enjoyed reimagining Lauryn Hill’s ‘To Zion.’ The idea came about organically when I was given the chance to perform with Chaka Khan’s Meltdown choir," anaiis explains. "The song is meaningful to me for obvious reasons, but being able to infuse my own energy into it and express it through my musical lens has been an incredibly joyful and emotional experience."

This engaging departure from the musician comes after she released a Brazil-inspired seven-track project last year; catch anaiis on tour with Mereba in the U.S. this Spring.
