Miso Extra has made a flavorful impact on the contemporary pop scene since her debut single, ‘Aventures of Tricky N Duke’, which was released in 2021. Growing up in Hong Kong with a British father and a Japanese mother, Miso spent her childhood in Japan before moving to the UK. This results in a somewhat chaotic listening experience, yet she manages to unify it with consistent and unique production, thereby solidifying her distinct sound. Complementing this diverse range of genres is Miso’s versatile vocal style; each track presents a different voice, at times gentle and sweet, and other times assertive and edgy. This blend creates a somewhat unpredictable experience, but it is anchored by her characteristic production, which has undoubtedly defined her style. This is particularly evident in her sugary single ‘Good Kisses’ (feat. Metronomy), which highlights her innovative approach to pop music. In fact, ‘Earcandy’ features a variety of collaborators, including DJ Boring, A.K. Paul, and Tyson, the latter appearing on ‘Candycrushin’—another standout track, along with the squeaking electro tune ‘Slow Down’, reminiscent of a fusion between John Hopkins and TLC. While there are undeniably enjoyable moments, the album lacks the catchy melodies that are essential in today’s pop music landscape. It’s certainly easy to listen to, but not exceptionally memorable; although it may be ‘Earcandy’, it fails to deliver the earworms that resonate.
The sound of one of rock's most lasting survivors relaxing and enjoying themselves.

It shows no signs of easing from its intense heat.
A captivating achievement that seems equally fashionable and unconventional.
What may appear as unusual qualities on paper also contribute to some of the project's most appealing moments.
A testament to the significant growth Matt has experienced since his debut in 2018.
Quite enjoyable to listen to, though not particularly memorable.
