The New Eves have revealed that their debut album, titled ‘The New Eve Is Rising’, will be released on 1st August through Transgressive Records. The quartet, consisting of Violet Farrer (guitar, violin, vocals), Nina Winder-Lind (cello, guitar, vocals), Kate Mager (bass, vocals), and Ella Oona Russell (drums, flute, vocals), has also released two new tracks to promote the album. The tracks, ‘Rivers Run Red’ and the album's opening song ‘The New Eve’, serve as initial previews of their upcoming debut. ‘The New Eve’ includes a poetic manifesto that welcomes listeners into the band’s world. “The New Eve is of earth / Granite, ochre, magma, dirt / All the bones in her body are holy / All the stones in her pockets are homely,” they sing in the song. The band shared that “The poem was written by Nina in her family’s cabin in the Swedish mountains. It’s about us. It’s for our younger selves. It’s about everyone. It’s for anyone. It’s a song to be played very loud, to run away to, or to rob a bank to, and to march and dance and laugh. In a sense, it’s a love song. It’s an ode. And a glorious battle cry.” In addition, ‘Rivers Run Red’ was initially intended as a song for Violet to dance to. “The original lyrics are a poem written by Ella during her teenage years,” the band explained about the new track. “It was never meant to be a final part of the song; it just happened to be something she remembered while we were jamming. This entire song came about somewhat accidentally, and because of that, it has undergone many variations and led us to new creative directions, such as Nina’s ‘disco cello’ and Violet’s debut of percussion using a camping cup. Now, we really love it.” You can listen to both ‘The New Eve’ and ‘Rivers Run Red’ below:
