"[My last EP] reminded me that being very specific can result in the most relatable lyrics." Who would be your ideal collaborator? The producer Charlie Andrew; his work with Alt-J really inspired me during my formative years, and his engineering and production choices make their albums sound incredibly vibrant. Last year, you released your ‘Babylotion’ EP. What do you feel it taught you as a songwriter? Creating ‘Babylotion’ taught me to be more concise—I had to let go of many favorite ideas because they didn't quite fit. It also reinforced my belief that being extremely specific can produce the most relatable lyrics. Have you been working on any new music that you can share with us? Yes! There's a lot of new music I can't wait to unveil—we’ll perform a couple of tracks from the next project at The Great Escape, so come and hear it live! Since I handle everything from writing, producing, and mixing the music, to storyboarding, styling, and editing all the music videos and shoots, along with tour managing, managing day-to-day operations, running social media, designing, and shipping all the merchandise, while also working my day job to support this project and my living, it can take a bit of time between releases! But, as always, I deeply appreciate the people who are patiently waiting for more music. You’ll be performing on our very own stage at The Great Escape! How do you feel about it? I’m incredibly excited to be part of The Great Escape—it’s been on my bucket list for years, and I can’t wait to fulfill that dream with some of my best friends (my band). It’s wonderful to play the DIY stage, especially considering how DIY has supported my last EP. Expect our live show to be full of great tracks; I plan to get some seemingly reluctant industry folks to dance, and I anticipate we’ll all have a fantastic time.
