Orla Gartland has released the Extended Edition of her latest album, ‘Everybody Needs A Hero’.
Earlier this year, the record was launched, showcasing the bedroom pop artist's growth and exploration. While venturing into new artistic territories, Orla maintained her commitment to melody.
The recording sessions proved to be very productive. By revisiting her archive, Orla has put together an Extended Edition of the album that includes five additional tracks.
Among the highlights are two collaborations—Vancouver duo Tommy Lefroy contributing to the new track ‘Pest’; and Orla’s FIZZ collaborators dodie and Greta Isaac appearing in a live rendition of Orla's Ivor Novello Award-nominated song ‘Mine’.
Orla Gartland shares her thoughts…
“I’ve added five new tracks to this extended edition of ‘Everybody Needs A Hero’; a blend of fresh songs and leftovers from the original album recording. It’s easy to grow frustrated with the gap between writing a song and its release since life (and everything you're singing about) can shift by the time the music is released!
This was certainly my experience here, so it was rewarding to revisit the album and incorporate some more current thoughts and feelings into tracks like ‘Now What?’ and ‘Thirty’. There are also some collaborations; I enjoyed working with Tommy Lefroy on ‘Pest’ and performing a new live version of ‘Mine’ with my close friends, Greta Isaac and dodie.
