Cate Le Bon Announces New Album Titled ‘Michelangelo Dying’

Cate Le Bon is set to release her seventh album, ‘Michelangelo Dying,’ on September 26th.

Originally from Wales, the artist has spent nearly ten years in the United States, establishing herself as a sought-after producer for high-profile acts. Notably, she worked on St. Vincent’s remarkable album ‘All Born Screaming’ and has also put out a collection of captivating records under her own name.

Her new album, ‘Michelangelo Dying,’ will be released later this year on September 26th through Mexican Summer. The album was created in various locations, including the Greek island of Hydra, Cardiff, London, and Los Angeles.

The finishing touches were done in the Californian desert, with production collaboration from Samur Khouja.

Cate Le Bon shares her thoughts:

“There’s this notion that you could do everything by yourself, but the importance of having someone you absolutely trust, like Samur, as your co-pilot lets you get lost with the confidence that they will guide you back at the right time. We have come to seamlessly operate together in the studio.”

The new track ‘Heaven Is No Feeling’ begins with elegance, showcasing Cate Le Bon’s skill and precision. The lyrics possess a poetic quality:

“I see you watch me work for your slow hand / Draping my body with no rhythm just desire / The day / The night / It all ends / And you smoke our love / Like you’ve never known violence.”

      H. Hawkline directed the video for ‘Heaven Is No Feeling’ and describes the experience:

“There are moments in life that seem unimaginable until they occur. Life contacts you on a metaphorical banana phone and shares her oldest joke, everyone gathers around while you struggle to remember the lyrics to your favorite song. If you were to ask how we created this video, I wouldn't be able to explain. Cate observing her while she observes Cate. I always feel privileged to collaborate with Cate in any capacity; it’s easy to overlook how extraordinary someone is when you’ve known them for so long. ‘I want you to make me a new video.’ ‘Have you seen the previous one yet?’ ‘No’ …Bravo!”
