The heartfelt track 'All I Need' has been released now...
Bret McKenzie will launch his new album ‘Freak Out City’ on August 15th.
The songwriter from New Zealand gained recognition as part of the comedy duo Flight Of The Conchords, where he crafted some of their charming, catchy, and often amusing tunes.
In addition, he has penned other pieces that come from a genuine place, drawing inspiration from artists like Randy Newman and Harry Nilsson.
His 2022 album ‘Songs Without Jokes’ served as a debut and a fresh start – and now something new is approaching.
‘Freak Out City’ is the next phase, developed during live performances across New Zealand and the U.S. with his eight-piece band, The State Highway Wonders.
Scheduled for release on August 15th, the album was recorded in both Los Angeles and New Zealand and co-produced by Bret alongside his long-time collaborator, Mickey Petralia.
The new single ‘All I Need’ serves as a charming introduction, with Bret sharing:
"This is a love song for my wife, Hannah. We’ve been together for a long time. We always have love for each other, but if we’re being honest, there are days when we love each other more than others. This song came from one of those days when we felt particularly in love."
Tune in now.
