In 2025, Glastonbury Festival will offer fewer tickets to enhance the experience for attendees on-site.
In recent years, the festival's capacity has increased, leading to complaints from fans regarding overcrowding in certain areas last year. Resident Advisor examined this issue thoroughly, and Clash witnessed the challenges posed by the site layout firsthand.
Now, Emily Eavis has announced that Glastonbury is implementing changes, focusing on both the total number of attendees and the layout of the iconic Worthy Farm event.
For this month's festival, she stated on the Sidetracked podcast that they will sell "a few thousand fewer tickets" to prevent a recurrence of last year's safety concerns.
“It will be interesting to see how that influences the dynamics on site … to determine if reducing the numbers by a few thousand can alleviate some of the busier periods,” she remarked.
Additionally, the Shangri-La area will undergo significant renovations – attendees can look forward to “full trees and green space,” which is described as “completely different from anything they’ve done previously.”
Moreover, Glastonbury will place crew members “just outside of the site,” making use of a newly acquired area of land.
“I suggested that they create some space for the public there because it’s important to have room, especially in the south-east corner which becomes quite crowded at night,” she explained. “If you want to go down and avoid the busy areas, you can visit Dragon’s Tail [the new section] and find a spot on a hill to see everything.”
