"This doesn't make much sense to the typical listener..."
Irish country-pop star CMAT has unveiled her latest single, ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’.
The artist is set to release her new album ‘EURO-COUNTRY’, an introspective project reflecting on the decline of the Irish tiger and its effects on the national mindset – while still being a lot of fun.
Due out on August 29th, her recent single ‘Take A Sexy Picture’ is going viral, thanks to a fan-created dance trend known as ‘The Woke Macarena’.
Following closely, the whimsical new single ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’ explores the absurdities of life on the road and the human tendency to form irrational dislikes.
A lively pop track, the title alludes to Jamie Oliver's frequent appearances at gas stations, with the self-referential lyrics stating: “This doesn’t make much sense to the average listener…”
Here’s CMAT’s explanation…
“The essence of the song is that my annoyance and intolerance towards others serves no purpose in my life and is a negative instinct I possess. So, if you think about it, it’s actually a love song for Jamie Oliver. It’s me saying ‘stop being negative and judging people for minor irritations…’”
Of course, next week is Glastonbury, and CMAT will be performing there – catch her at the Pyramid Stage at 1:30 PM on Friday (June 27th).
Tune in now.
