Nation Of Language has announced that their upcoming album, a follow-up to 2023’s 'Strange Disciple' and their debut release under new label Sub Pop, will be released on September 19. Titled 'Dance Called Memory', this marks their fourth full-length album, recorded once again with their frequent collaborator Nick Millhiser (LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost!) in New York. The album will feature ten tracks, including 'Inept Apollo', the single released last month. Frontman Ian Richard Devaney discussed the album's creation process, stating: “There’s a contrast between the Kraftwerk approach and the Brian Eno philosophy, both of which have influenced me at different times. I’ve learned that Kraftwerk aimed to eliminate humanity from their music, whereas Eno often expressed a desire to create synthesized music that feels very human. While Kraftwerk's sound is a foundational influence, I leaned more towards Eno’s philosophy with this record. In an era increasingly defined by AI taking over human creators, I’m concentrating on the human experience and ensuring the music reinforces this idea. Rather than evoking hopelessness, I want listeners to feel a connection, recognizing that our individual challenges can bring us together in empathy.” Additionally, to celebrate the announcement, Nation Of Language has released another track from the album, 'I’m Not Ready For The Change', which is an uplifting synth anthem accompanied by a live video directed by John MacKay.
