UNIVERSITY bursts onto the scene with their debut album, ‘McCartney, It’ll Be OK’, delivering a whirlwind of contrasting sounds and melodies. The album is at times post-punk and at other times purely aggressive, presenting a disordered yet flexible experience as the band bravely pushes their musical limits, discovering beauty amidst the chaos they generate. Their relentless pursuit of sonic obliteration features pinch harmonics, driving riffs, booming snare hits, and raw screams. The intensity is palpable, with the band showing no signs of holding back. While tracks like ‘GTA Online’ and ‘Diamond Song’ adopt a somewhat more relaxed vibe, this reprieve is fleeting. The experience is unpredictable and deceptive, a sonic rollercoaster that concludes before one can fully absorb its barrage of instrumentals. The opening track, ‘Massive Twenty One Pilots Tattoo’, along with ‘Curwen’, surges through the speakers, creating a sound so powerful it could shatter nearby glass. Messy, chaotic, challenging—‘McCartney, It’ll Be OK’ steps beyond traditional notions of ‘progressive’, aiming to both astonish ears and stimulate thoughts.
Following the successful celebration of their debut album ‘Letter To Self’ with 103 performances last year, the Dublin band Sprints is poised to be one of the standout acts of the 2025 festival season. With a busy lineup of live shows ahead, this will serve as an excellent chance to try out some new music…
The upcoming album will seemingly have the NYC cult favorites embracing an "Eno school of thought."
As emotionally stirring as it is musically pleasing.
Their seventh album, 'The Hives Forever Forever The Hives,' is set to be released at the end of August.
A bit more cohesion would have been beneficial.
There’s just under a month left until the amazing Madrid weekend!
