Seoul-based collective Balming Tiger has collaborated with J-pop group ATARASHII GAKKO! on a new genre-blending release titled ‘Narani Narani.’
Emerging from a musical fusion between two innovative collectives, ‘Narani Narani’ features a vibrant dance track that combines playground chants, punk influences, cinematic elements, and folk segments.
Regarding the collaboration, Balming Tiger expresses: “We connected by transcending mountains and oceans with care for one another. With AG!’s kindness and cheerfulness, a creation filled with positive energy emerged. We hope you find a little peace in your hearts as well, reminiscing about laughter and tears with your childhood friends.”
ATARASHII GAKKO! adds: “We have long been inspired by Balming Tiger’s endeavors. The partnership between BT and AG! brings about a chemical reaction that we are thrilled about. We hope this creation reaches not only our nations but the world!”
The accompanying visuals are directed by Japanese filmmaker Pennacky, recognized for his work on Balming Tiger’s memorable tracks ‘SEXY NUKIM,’ ‘Armadillo,’ and ‘Kolo Kolo.’ The whimsical and surreal video takes viewers on a playful journey through the chaotic creative spaces of both bands.
Balming Tiger comprises artists Omega Sapien, sogumm, bj wnjn, and Mudd the student, along with producers San Yawn and Unsinkable, video directors Jan’ Qui and Leesuho, visual artist Chanhee Hong, DJ Abyss, and writer Henson Hwang.
Balming Tiger is gearing up for their World Tour, which begins on July 5th, with performances planned in Japan, Hong Kong, and London, including appearances at the Reading/Leeds Festival.
