Kissin’ teef has released a new single titled ‘JUNGLE’.
This project is the creation of Kai Isaiah-Jamal, an inspiring multi-talented artist whose innovative contributions span visual art, fashion, and now music.
Kai recently spoke with Clash in detail about the goals for kissin’ teef in an extensive cover interview last year, and the project is launched with this fervent new single.
Opening with a sample from Noel Gallagher – “I want more!” – and concluding with resonant final notes, ‘JUNGLE’ articulates the divisions within British society, drawing on Kai Isaiah-Jamal’s formative experiences.
It narrates working-class life—both its unity and its fractures—pushing back against right-wing racist narratives to uncover a space of truth. The song includes the lines: “Long before Red Bull / we understood culture clash…”
In introducing the song, Kai remarks:
‘JUNGLE’ addresses the cultural and racial tensions present in London's working-class neighborhoods; it is a love letter to the city's beauty as a cultural melting pot and reclaims the meaning of being British. In response to the viral LBC caller Darren, sampled in the chorus, this song embodies resistance, community, and standing boldly against racial hatred, while reflecting on how marginalized communities have shaped this vibrant and dynamic city.
The video, directed by Hector Dockrill and supported by SP5DER, brings kissin’ teef back to a London estate, with their journey set against the backdrop of this melting pot.
