British-Ghanaian artist Nectar Woode presents another teaser from her upcoming EP ‘it’s like i never left’, releasing the uplifting new single ‘Ama Said’.

In line with the EP’s themes of identity, family heritage, and the wisdom passed through generations, ‘Ama Said’ highlights her younger sister with a joyful blend of boom bap rap, soul, and jazz.

“Do whatever you feel (ama said),” Nectar Woode expresses in a track that also features her father on saxophone and Noushy of Kokoroko on trombone. “It’s just a beautiful moment where you can reconnect with home, trace your family, and include them in this amazing song.”

The six-track EP ‘it’s like i never left’ is set to release on July 18th through SINCE93/RCA. Throughout this project, Nectar draws strength and inspiration from her Ghanaian heritage, influenced by a transformative trip to Accra and Aburi earlier this year. “It was something I needed to do,” she reflects. “It felt like I had been there before; I can’t quite explain it.”

Earlier this month, Nectar made her TV debut on Later… with Jools Holland, performing ‘Only Happen’, her first single of 2025, which is a collaboration with jazz artist Jordan Rakei.

Nectar is scheduled to perform three times at the Glastonbury Festival next week, having been chosen as a BBC Introducing artist.
