Yes I Will – Of the Dell

      Unsure of my feelings

But this feeling is here now

      Uncertain of your thoughts

Yet I know you’ll come around

I took my chance on a misunderstanding

Now I must seize my second chance

      I’m gonna make you,

      gonna make you mine

      I’m gonna make you,

      gonna make you mine

Oh yes I will, oh yes I will

Atwood Magazine is excited to present “Yes I Will,” the second single from Of The Dell – a truly remarkable introduction. Featured on the band’s forthcoming debut album As Soon As Possible (set to release later this year), “Yes I Will” debuts June 24th as a long-awaited fan favorite finally receiving the studio treatment it merits, produced by Kory Caudill (Tyler Childers & The Food Stamps), recorded by Sean Truskowski at Ivy Hall Studios in Nashville, and mixed by Gordon Davidson at Abbey Road Studios.

This Huntington, West Virginia rock trio – consisting of twin brothers Corey and Cody Hatton, alongside powerhouse drummer Jeffrey McClelland – has carved out a unique sound that blends Appalachian charm with classic rock energy, reminiscent of Big Star, The Beatles, and The Who at their most melodic and raw.

“I am thrilled to see this song released; it has been a long time coming,” Cody Hatton expresses. “We’ve recorded it several times, but this version is incredible. [Our producer] Kory Caudill’s arrangement is spot on.”

A staple in their live performances for years, “Yes I Will” is as engaging as it is liberating. It begins in uncertainty – “Don’t know what I’m feeling, but I’ve got this feeling now” – and crescendos into a triumphant affirmation: “Gonna make you, gonna make you mine / Oh yes I will.” Love here is portrayed as messy and flawed but tenacious. Mistakes are acknowledged, lessons are learned, and hope is not merely clung to – it is pursued. Throughout, the band’s bright Rickenbacker guitars – a loving tribute to the Fab Four – combined with their warm and sweet vocal delivery, create an endlessly captivating and emotionally resonant experience.

Sixty years after that iconic moment on The Ed Sullivan Show, the principles of crafting great music remain unchanged – and Of the Dell seems to have discovered their own unique blend that draws from historical influences while allowing room for their distinct rock n’ roll identity.

“This song has been a long-standing part of our set, but we set it aside for a while,” Corey Hatton recalls. “Then Jeffrey suggested we revisit it, but in a new way. When we presented it to Kory, he embraced it and developed a fantastic new arrangement that we fell in love with.”

The outcome is an undeniable anthem of yearning and determination. With three-part harmonies, dynamic riffs, and a driving rhythm section, Of the Dell merges classic ‘60s songwriting aesthetics with an Appalachian, Americana influence. “Yes I Will” feels both timeless and timely – a reminder that love, at its essence, is a risk worth taking.

“Who hasn’t felt this way at some point?” Corey Hatton reflects.

      Don’t know what I’m doing

But I’m gonna figure it out

      Don’t know where I’m headed

      But I’ll get there somehow

I took a chance on someone new

But things were different, oh, oh, oh

      I’m gonna make you,

      gonna make you mine

      I’m gonna make you,

      gonna make you mine

Oh yes I will, oh yes I will

Earnest, explosive, and irresistibly catchy, “Yes I Will” transforms heartbreak into hope and determination into brilliance. It serves as the perfect introduction to a burgeoning rock n’ roll band ready to assert themselves – the kind of song that compels you to sing along with the car windows down, a musical release for anyone
