Mera Bhai, a producer and multi-instrumentalist based in London, has released his latest single, 'Set You Free'.

This single arrives ahead of his upcoming EP, 'Now I Need You', set to be released on July 25th through Platoon. This follows the disco-tinged teaser ‘Friday Night’, and during the weekend, he has been performing at Glastonbury.

'Set You Free' merges the vibrant energy of French House with the distinctive flair of UK garage. At its heart is a sample from the 1970 debut of Detroit psychedelic rock pioneers Black Merda, transformed into a lyrical protest anthem suitable for the dancefloor.

Regarding this thought-provoking dance piece, Mera Bhai states: “It’s an uplifting track, but it’s crucial for me that there’s always a deeper message behind the music. Just because it’s intended for the dancefloor doesn’t mean it should lack substance.”

Created during a four-day studio session, ‘Now I Need You’ represents Mera Bhai's most club-oriented work to date. Drawing inspiration from ’90s dance, UK garage, French touch, and rave culture, it signifies a departure from the psych-infused, band-centric style of his previous projects.

He adds: “I was feeling stuck and needed a change of environment... I moved into my friend Mikey’s (from Snapped Ankles) studio while he was away, worked on a collection of demos, and spent four days piecing it all together. The creativity just flowed.”
