Mayurashka is leading a new movement in Japanese electronic music.

Japanese producer Mayurashka has been gaining attention over the last few years with a series of essential projects. Focusing on house music, she expands her sound by incorporating elements of her Japanese heritage.

Part of a new wave of talent emerging from Japan’s vibrant club scene, she has recently attracted the interest of Rhythm Section, the Peckham-based international label founded by Bradley Zero.

Her latest EP, ‘LSI Dreaming,’ has just been released, showcasing a stunning collection that follows significant DJ sets for platforms such as Born Free, Animals Dancing, NTS Radio, Skylabradio, and Berlin Community Radio.

As a producer who blends an understanding of club dynamics with an emotional touch, the EP offers rich and luminous listening experience.

With the EP now available, Mayurashka highlighted some key Japanese influences on her music.

      SAEKO KILLY

I adore her voice; it’s enchanting, a melting, psychedelic quality reminiscent of Lizzy Mercier Descloux. If I possessed such an incredible singing voice, I would love to create poetry house as well.

      KIKI KUDO

I appreciate the way she merges polyrhythmic percussion with gentle melodies. But perhaps it’s not just that; it’s the peculiar, whimsical atmosphere that captivates me.

      OCHI BROTHERS

Their music is a blend of psychedelic, dub, tribal, and euphoric elements—all my favorite aspects. Their field recordings, devoid of sarcasm, naturally liberate the spirit and invigorate the body.

      ECSTASY BOYS

I often played “Heaven Lake” in my DJ sets. I believe my dance music embodies poetic elements and spoken word, either influenced by this track or simply inherent to my style. The recently re-released record on Glossy Mistakes resonates with the current vibe.

      DISCOSSESSION

An outstanding Japanese cosmic group. Their music features weeping guitars and layered echoes. Although the mood often leans towards melancholy, that’s what makes it truly beautiful. They excel at crafting tunes that encourage slow dancing and warp perception.
