Jeff Tweedy has revealed his plans for a new solo album titled ‘Twilight Override’.
The prolific Wilco member appears to have been compiling material over the years, and now, five years after his introspective 2020 pandemic album ‘Love Is The King’, he is set to embark on a solo venture.
The upcoming album ‘Twilight Override’ is the result of several years of work, recorded and self-produced by Tweedy at his well-known Chicago studio, The Loft.
Presented as an extravagant triple LP set, it showcases an impressive 30 tracks, in addition to his commitments with Wilco and occasional forays into writing.
Scheduled for release on September 26th via dBpm Records, Tweedy shares his thoughts:
"When you engage in creative endeavors, you connect with something that many refer to as God. Aligning yourself with creation naturally sets you against destruction. You stand on the side of creation, which significantly helps mitigate the urge to destroy. Creativity conquers darkness.”
“It's like an endless buffet these days—a seemingly limitless supply of rock bottom. Perhaps that’s why I’ve been so prolific recently. It’s challenging to overlook this sense of decline, and it likely plays a part in the veil I’m working to peel back. The twilight of an empire feels like an apt starting point when one is diving into the abyss.”
"Although 'twilight' is a beautiful word, there are many joyful individuals in former empires; thus, that may not be the sole source of this dissonance. Whatever the external (or internal) forces generating this sense of ennui in my life, it's incredibly overwhelming and hard to dismiss. ‘Twilight Override’ is my attempt to push back against it. Here are the songs, sounds, voices, guitars, and words intended to release some of the weight and amplify my own light. It's my endeavor to confront this encroaching darkness of the soul."
To commemorate the announcement, four songs have been made available: ‘One Tiny Flower,’ ‘Out In The Dark,’ ‘Stray Cats In Spain,’ and ‘Enough.’
