An evocative reinterpretation of the cherished jazz classic by Matt Dennis and Earl B. Brent.

American artist Niia has unveiled her striking rendition of the jazz standard, 'Angel Eyes'.

Released through the revitalized heritage jazz label, Candid Records, Niia's cover was produced by Spencer Zahn, featuring Benjamin Bock on keys. Returning to her classical training, Niia revives her love for the genre with a haunting and smoky interpretation.

“All I ever wanted to be as a child was a jazz singer, like the greats,” Niia shares. “This song signifies a significant moment in my career – a chance to return to my roots and reconnect with the music that has always been my true passion.”

Niia reinterprets the treasured 1946 jazz classic by Matt Dennis and Earl B. Brent, famously covered by Chet Baker, whose smooth-jazz version is an essential part of Niia’s musical essence. Under Zahn’s direction, the track is presented devoid of nostalgia; it feels raw, vulnerable, and emotionally intense.

Additionally, Niia has announced the first leg of her European fall tour, commencing on October 4th in Cologne, Germany, with subsequent stops in Denmark, Switzerland, Hungary, and Vienna, Austria.

The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Dimitri Basil, set in the iconic Los Angeles lounge, The Dresden.
