Jade Bird - Who Wants to Discuss Love?

It's been four years since Jade Bird released her last album, 'Different Kinds of Light' in 2021, so it's natural that things might be somewhat different this time around, with a few fresh touches. While many elements that have attracted fans to the singer-songwriter remain in place, this album primarily highlights the full range of her vocal strength, along with the hints of folk, indie, and Americana that have become her distinctive sound. The vulnerability in her voice is palpable amidst the swirling harmonies of 'Avalanche,' and in 'Dreams,' we witness her at a low moment. Yet even in despair, she captures a poignant line to encapsulate the experience: "Did we stop laughing or did the punchline change?" she ponders in 'How To Be Happy,' offering more of a reflection than a how-to guide. Charting a path of forgiveness and unexpected healing—during the time since her last album, Jade both entered and ended an engagement—and having written the title track at age 16 after observing the impact of her parents' and grandparents' divorces, 'Who Wants To Talk About Love?' emerges as a heartfelt and powerfully charged exploration of human experience.
