Fcukers Unveil Brand New Party Anthem ‘Play Me’

And confirm a new London show...

Today, the New York duo Fcukers has released their latest track, ‘Play Me’. The duo consists of vocalist Shannon Wise and producer, bassist, and keyboardist Jackson Walker Lewis, who embrace the philosophy of “we’re always down to try something new and just take a stab at it and have fun with it.”

This marks their first original single since last year’s debut EP, ‘Baggy$$’, a diverse collection of six tracks. That project showcased their ability to blend styles, navigating through dub, 90s and 00s house, trip hop, big beat, and indie rock, all while maintaining the distinct Fcukers touch with gentle vocals and a nostalgic, analogue sound. It’s surprising that they have created new music amidst their busy touring schedule (with drummer Rhythm Luna and DJ/scratch artist Luka Mrvic/Dwells), but they have managed to do so.

‘Play Me’ elevates Fcukers’ sound to higher tempos, shifting between dreamy half-time verses and near jungle beats during the choruses. The track’s bassline draws influences from both Mr. Oizo and DJ Die Gnarly. True to Fcukers' style, ‘Play Me’ explores a wide array of sounds and influences, featuring Wise’s smooth and calming vocals that bind the track together as an anthem for the club. The latter part of the song highlights impressive scratching from live member and New York turntable star Dwells, paying homage to New York City’s rich DJing culture, as Fcukers continually draw inspiration from various genres while remaining grounded in their roots.

This new single was crafted in partnership with renowned engineer, songwriter, and producer Kenneth Blume, aka Kenny Beats, whose signature hard-hitting drums resonate powerfully throughout the track.

Catch Fcukers live at London’s Colour Factory on November 26th.
