Nation of Language has released a new track titled ‘Under The Water’.
The trio has signed with Sub Pop, and the influential label is set to launch their upcoming album ‘Dance Called Memory’ on September 19th.
This album sees Nation Of Language expanding their sound, adding new layers and subtleties to their synth-driven post-punk blend.
Available now, ‘Under The Water’ serves as an immersive post-punk experience, embodying a cold wave enveloped in refreshing digital textures.
Ian Devaney from Nation of Language shares his thoughts on the track…
This was the last song included before we submitted the album. We had always been excited about it, but the studio timeline became a bit chaotic over the holidays, and we had a deadline to finish LP4 before leaving for a January tour in Australia with IDLES.
As a result, we submitted the final mixes for mastering before boarding the plane, thinking I would save ‘Under the Water’ for a future release. However, somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, while arranging the album, it became clear that despite our firm commitment to the production schedule, we wanted the track included.
So, before soundchecks on the other side of the world, we set up all the synths we had brought in the greenroom and remotely created the version you hear now. If it sounds uniquely southern hemisphere, now you know why.
Tune in now.
