After already releasing two singles this year, pop sensation Caity Baser is returning with exciting news about a larger project. She is set to launch her new eight-track EP titled ‘There, I Said It’ next month. Scheduled for release on 22nd August via Capitol Records UK, this new project will feature her earlier track ‘Watch That Girl (She’s Gonna Say It)’ and represents a clear shift in the singer’s direction, both musically—drawing inspiration from classic artists such as Etta James, Nat 'King' Cole, and Chet Baker—and lyrically. “I’m finally at a stage where I feel prepared to share this special collection of songs I’ve been working on,” Caity expressed about the release. “It means a lot to me and includes some challenging emotions. I’m really excited to explore a more vulnerable side of myself and discuss aspects of who I am. This EP focuses on things I’ve never addressed before; the aspects I learned to feel ashamed of. I’ve had numerous experiences that have shaped my identity. All the uncomfortable and beautiful moments we endure influence who we have become and should not be forgotten. I grapple with memories that haunt me at night, and I believe we should bring those conversations to light. I want you to know that you’re not alone. I’m ready for you to hear this side of me.”
“Musically, I’m thrilled to delve into a more melodious instrumental vibe—beautiful melodies, harmonies, strings, horns, all live instruments. This is the music I was raised on. So here’s what I’ve wanted to convey since I began making music, and now I finally have the confidence to express it. So yes: ‘There, I Said It.’”

In conjunction with the announcement, Caity has introduced the EP’s “centrepiece” track, ‘Weight Of You (Glad You Died)’, which addresses her personal experience with sexual assault. You can check her TikTok to hear her discuss the track, but please be aware that the content might be distressing for some individuals. “I aimed to create a song that doesn't simply express, ‘I’m so sad, feel sorry for me, I’m a victim’, which, technically, I am, but I refuse to feel ashamed of that,” she stated. “I wish to feel empowered by what happened to me. I feel that I’ve now taken ownership of that situation. It no longer controls me—neither does he.”
“I wrote it with my collaborators, the duo Oh Wonder, in just about half an hour. It was truly special, and it was crucial to get it right. Every single line, every word, needed to have significance because it felt like my one opportunity to write a song about this. I wanted the strings to evoke a sense of crying, and for the instruments to communicate with the vocals, creating a dialogue between them.”
