Hanumankind, a rapper born in Kerala and raised in Houston, has released his highly anticipated mixtape, ‘Monsoon Season’.
Described as a collection of tracks compiled over the years “before the spotlight and the noise,” ‘Monsoon Season’ captures a period of anonymity, crafted during a time of focused effort, well before he achieved fame.
This release follows a meticulously planned buildup of powerful singles, creative music videos, and notable live shows – including his debut at Coachella and sold-out performances in the UK and Europe, highlighted by an event at London’s Village Underground.
The twelve-track mixtape includes previously released singles like ‘Run It Up’, ‘Holiday’, and the breakout hit ‘Big Dawgs’, along with its remix featuring A$AP Rocky. The project, which is both character-building and introspective, fuses Hanumankind’s appreciation for Southern rap with his Malayalam heritage. It serves as a commentary on the beauty and challenges of his homeland, alongside more personal narratives of romantic strife, showcasing Hanumankind before he became India’s leading MC.
Executive produced by Kalmi, ‘Monsoon Season’ features production solely from collaborators within Hanumankind’s close circle. Artistic director Bijoy played a vital role in shaping the visual narrative, completing the trio that constitutes the world of Hanumankind.
