Along with a striking, unusual new video…
Breakout duo Hex Girlfriend has released their new single ‘Trash TV’.
The duo has signed with Soil to The Sun Records, a newly launched label under the Relentless Records banner.
Scheduled to perform at London’s Sebright Arms on August 21st, the band will present their latest single live.
Currently available, ‘Trash TV’ is a high-energy, electronic anthem that showcases a nearly punk-like rebellion against conformity. Echoing the mid-90s Prodigy hits, it converts rave vibes into something enticingly subversive.
Self-produced by James Knott and mixed by David Wrench (known for work with Blur, Jungle, Jamie xx), the track conveys a significant amount of commentary within its brief duration, reflecting on "the economy of attention and how advertising and corporate influence tend to corrupt everything in the digital world. It also addresses the surge of short-form video content, its parasitic nature that drains away your time without notice, and the grip it seems to have on every aspect of the entertainment industry, music included."
The video depicts Hex Girlfriend reimagined as salespeople in a QVC-like setting, with a surreal quality reminiscent of David Lynch.
