Scottish artist Pictish Trail has unveiled his latest single, ‘Hold It’.
This track marks his first new material since the 2022 album ‘Family Island’ and comes just before his annual participation in the Green Man Festival.
Set to perform two sold-out shows in Edinburgh this week, Pictish Trail begins a new chapter with this single.
A reflective return, ‘Hold It’ transitions from whimsical psych-pop to sharp, introspective lyrics, all tied together by Pictish Trail’s sense of direction.
Differentiating itself from previous works, it stems from studio experimentation with Mike Lindsay (Tunng, LUMP).
Pictish Trail shares…
“It’s a song about attempting to hold onto a moment of love and connection – capturing it before the chance slips away. It addresses the realization that our memories, or even the fantasies of our past, can vanish suddenly, before we're prepared to let them go. It explores the guilt, shame, and fear that accompany time slipping away… all the intricate aspects of life.”
