Divorce takes inspiration from Wallace and Gromit for their latest single, titled ‘Wendolene.’

Following a successful festival season, which featured notable performances at Green Man and The Maccabees' All Points East event, the Nottingham band Divorce has unexpectedly released a deluxe version of their acclaimed debut album, ‘Drive To Goldenhammer’. This extended LP includes three new tracks, one of which is titled ‘Wendolene’ and is inspired by the beloved claymation duo Wallace and Gromit (no offense to those unfamiliar). The band describes ‘Wendolene’ as a glimpse into what comes after ‘Drive to Goldenhammer,’ suggesting a shift toward a darker sound compared to their debut record. They also mention that the song's title pays tribute to A Close Shave, and there's even a niche reference to the film in its music video. While recording, they drew inspiration from pictures of Wendolene and Cilla Black, which they believe is clearly reflected in the vocal delivery.

Additionally, the deluxe edition features new songs ‘O Calamity’ and ‘Chip’, as well as demos for ‘Tiny Animals’ and ‘Pretty Lights’, along with session versions of ‘Karen’, ‘Pill’, and a live cover of Queen’s ‘I Want To Break Free’.
