The PRS Members' Fund is introducing two new support programs this summer.

The PRS Members’ Fund, a charity that has provided financial and wellbeing support to PRS for Music’s songwriters and composers since 1934, has introduced two new initiatives this summer, aimed at offering additional assistance to members during the warmer months. The Reset & Rewind Wellbeing Breaks Initiative and the Summer Family Support schemes have been implemented to lend a helping hand to artists, songwriters, and composers (who are also PRS for Music members) who may be struggling during this season. The Reset & Rewind Wellbeing Breaks Initiative is specifically designed to give members the chance to take a break this summer, allowing them to rest, recover, and recharge their creativity after experiencing intense stress or illness. With a dedicated budget of £25,000, the fund is available for creatives to take a short, UK-based holiday of up to 5 days, enabling them to recalibrate. Members can apply for grants of up to £500 for their break (covering up to £100 per day for bed and breakfast accommodation and travel expenses), and applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to apply, visit the relevant link. One member shared their experience after receiving funding last year, stating: “I was finally able to relax and unwind after a very stressful period in my life, and I found it really helped me to write songs and express things that I needed to. I’m now writing regularly again, both collaboratively and individually, which is proving beneficial. I also made some great new music contacts who will be lifelong friends, colleagues, and collaborators.”

Additionally, the PRS Members’ Fund has launched a second initiative this year aimed at supporting parents in the music industry. Naturally, summer holidays can pose significant challenges for parents, especially those in the music sector, so the Summer Family Support scheme is designed to ease financial burdens and help balance work obligations with childcare needs. Members can request support for holiday clubs (up to £500 for two weeks), day trips (up to £150), or even school uniform expenses (£250 for secondary schools, or £50 for primary schools) — anything that can lighten the load this summer. Are you a songwriter or composer in need of a bit of extra assistance this month? If you have been a member of PRS for Music for 7 years or have earned £500 in royalties, you may be eligible to apply for this funding! Visit the link to apply, or contact the PRS Members’ Fund team at [email protected] or by calling 020 3741 4069 for more information.
