The Irish band THUMPER delivers intense sounds with their single ‘Bad Mood’.
Their maximalist approach features two drummers and a plethora of guitars, with their debut album ‘Delusions Of Grandeur’ breaking barriers and earning a nomination for the Choice Music Prize.
In pursuit of new material, THUMPER ventured to rural Donegal and rented a cottage with producer Rian Trench.
Transforming the modest space into a studio—“no signal, no wifi, no distractions”—the band connected wires throughout the location, with guitar amp reverberations shaking the fillings in their teeth.
Slowly, the exhilarating new single ‘Bad Mood’ took shape. It’s a track that rejects the modern discontent, feeling weightier and deeper than their earlier creations.
With a sonically powerful presence, ‘Bad Mood’ questions whether our minds can truly handle today's data-saturated environment.

Once I revered the sun, but now I draw inspiration from a screen. My phone alarm jolts me awake, and in mere seconds, I’m being marketed something. Am I a remnant of the past or a casualty of the present? ‘Bad Mood’ juxtaposes the human experience with the black mirror in my pocket, reducing the mental health discourse to a superficial soundbite. “I’m so sorry but you’ve caught me in a bad mood…”
