Beth McKenzie has unveiled two unexpected new tracks.

The Stockport-based songwriter combines flawless pop melodies with a touch of lyrical candidness, creating music that embraces sincerity.

After taking time to plan her next move, Beth surprised her fans recently with the Deluxe Edition of her EP 'Does This Make Me A Bitter Woman?' which includes two entirely new songs.

Now available, ‘Catching The Next Train’ explores the concluding phase of a relationship where both individuals feel as if they are merely going through the motions. It’s a poignant and insightful track, marked by a subtle sense of humor, and it conveys its message in understated tones.

Beth shares: “Sometimes the aftermath of a relationship doesn’t involve loud arguments; rather, it can lead to a more quiet unraveling, and the challenging part is recognizing that there’s an issue.”

Additionally, the nighttime vibe of ‘My Skeleton Mocks Me’ illustrates the resurfacing of long-buried emotions and how – to echo a commonly used therapeutic saying – the body retains memory.

      Elaborating further, Beth explains…

‘My Skeleton Mocks Me’ addresses how trauma is stored in the body and the challenge of simply existing, let alone thriving, in a body that holds such uncomfortable memories and feelings.

I remember feeling as if my past experiences had robbed me of my future. Despite my efforts to mask the troubling memories, I was still containing them in my body, which expressed itself in various ways both physically and mentally. I eventually acknowledged the necessity of not ignoring or suppressing the emotions I wished to avoid. I came to understand that processing these memories was my only way forward. I realized that my sensation of my body retaining everything was due to the deep repression of my experiences, which led both my mind and body to internalize them, consequently affecting my life.
